About me

Hey there! I go by Whey_Isolate, or simply Whey, my fursona's name is Wei, and I use any pronouns. I'm 19, currently studying art and design in Rhode Island, and I also work alternatively as a freelance artist/editor and a studio assistant. Here on my website, I share my artwork, writing, photography, and cool finds from real life and the interwebs, and I try to make it as fun as possible for you to explore the things I create and love!

I live for stories. I write stories so they don't slip from my mind, draw stories to make them real, and I capture the stories I live through photography. I'm fascinated by stories of the past, particularly of 20th century history, and I experience that by collecting old technology. I also love cities for that reason: there's nothing like a big city to gather all the culture and good company of humanity into one bustling place.

All the haughty stuff aside, I am also obsessed with speculative fiction media and enjoy punk, metal, and electronica music, am a huge fan of public transit and urbanism, crochet and knit a lot, tinker with electronics, play the guitar, self-host a multipurpose media server, and care for too many houseplants for my own good. My queer friends are my life, my love, my second family, and I live for their company.

I've used social media for a long time, and I've experienced in real time the corporate takeover and enshittification of the internet. In modern late-stage capitalism, a digital landscape which once served as a boundless exchange of information and culture has now been repurposed to homogenize users and extract as much capital as possible. In the face of this, I've decided to step aside and create a digital home to express myself free from the tyranny of algorithms and profit.

There are no gods and no masters here, no nations and no borders... only an open vista for you, dear traveller, to explore. Enjoy your stay!~
